Rwanda, Kenya commit to strengthening policing cooperation
On March 24, 2026, the Inspector General of Rwanda National Police (RNP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of Kenya’s National Police Service (NPS), Douglas Kanja Kirocho, at his office in Nairobi, Kenya. During the meeting, they discussed areas of mutual interest in policing and explored ways to further strengthen existing cooperation between RNP and NPS.
Key areas of engagement included the enhancement of collaboration through exchange programmes aimed at sharing and benchmarking best policing practices for the mutual benefit of the two nations.
The leaders also explored the possibility of formalising this partnership through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to guide future cooperation. Additionally, they deliberated on joint strategies to combat transnational and emerging crimes, underscoring the importance of regional and international collaboration in addressing evolving security threats.
During his official visit to Kenya, CG Namuhoranye and his delegation also toured Police Training Institutions in Kenya, including the National Police Service Senior Staff College–Emali and the National Police College–Kiganjo. At both institutions, the IGP interacted with directing staff and trainees to align training programmes with the contemporary, evolving policing environment.
