RWANDANS IN KENYA HONOR NATIONAL HEROES DAY
6th February, 2021, The Rwanda High Commission in Kenya in collaboration with the Rwandan community living in Kenya celebrated the National Heroes’ Day, an annual event organized to pay tribute to the people who exemplified and defended the highest values of patriotism and sacrifice for the wellbeing of the country and Rwandans.
The celebrations were held virtually attracting over 300 Rwandans in different parts of Kenya including Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Mombasa, discussions focused on the theme, “Our Heroism, our Dignity.”
National Heroes celebrated were in three categories: Imanzi, Imena and Ingenzi
Different speakers made presentations on the significance of the day noting that the Heroes’ Day reminds us to continue the legacy of what those Heroes strived for.
Officiated by Dr. Richard Masozera, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to the Republic of Kenya in his remarks emphasized on the significance of Heroes Day stating that the selfless men and women who sacrificed their lives and as the country builds herself, the encouragement to the youth today is to find the best way to instill values of heroism in a globalised world of today.
